Usher
U Don't Have To Call

from the album: 8701
released: 08.07.01

break/doWn
translating the hits for the masses
by: the munk

Usher's 8701 (released on none other than 08.07.01) is a marvelous collection of songs with titles including the letter "U." It's a clever play, seeing as how his name starts with a "U." One of these songs is "U Don't Have to Call" and to prove what a brilliant plan Mr. Usher Raymond had with his "U" songs, this song (about ex-girlfriend Chilli from TLC) has hit it huge in the charts. We take our hats off to U, Mr. Usher Raymond... U R A brilliant man indeed.

Original Lyrics broken/doWn

[Intro 2x]
Yo after tonight
Don't have your girl around me
True playa for real
Ask my nigga Pharrell

[Intro 2x]
Listen, after this evening
Don't bring your friend around me anymore
Because im the kind of man that can have any lady I would like
If you don't believe it, as my good friend Pharrell

Situations will arise
In our lives
But U got to be smart about it
Celebrations with the guys
I sacrified
'Cause I knew U could not sleep without it
Meanwhile I...
I loved U
U were my girl
U see I...
Thought the world of U
But you're still leavin' baby

There will be times
During our lives
That you have to make important decisions and be a man
All those nights when my friends wanted me to go to the club with them
But I often turned down the offers to join them
Because I knew that you would whine like a spoiled brat if I left
But I over looked that
I had very intense feelings for you
You were my female companion
I thought you were the best thing since back up dancers
Regardless, you walked away

[Chorus]

U don't have to call
It's okay girl
'Cause I'm gonna be alright tonight

[Chorus]

Don't even try to play that patronizing mind game with me
Because I'm way over you
And I don't need your company this evening

Aw girl
Your face is sayin' why
Tears in eyes
Should've been more smart about it
Should've cherished me
Listenin' to friends, now it's the end
And again
No story can end without it
Damn right I loved U
You were my girl
U see I...
Thought the world of U
But you're still leavin' baby

Repeat Chorus

Listen, lady
You have that look on your face again
Conjuring up some tears so I will feel sorry for you
But you should have known better
You should have recognized what an irresistible man I am
I heard thru the grapevine how you cheated and there's no way that im going to take you back
Again
Of course I was in love with you
We were in a committed relationship
You know I put you on a pedestal
But that's not good enough for you

Repeat Chorus

Gonna boogie tonight
'Cause I'm honestly too young of a guy
To stay home
Waitin for love
So tonight
I'm gonna do what a single man does
And that's party

Repeat Chorus

Gonna boogie tonight
'Cause I'm honestly too young of a guy
To stay home
Waitin for love
So tonight
I'm gonna do what a single man does
And that's party

Repeat Chorus

I'm going out to the club tonight and get my swerve on
Because really I'm in my sexual prime
And there's no way im gong to be at home
Waiting for the phone to ring
NO! Instead this evening
I'm going to go out and sow my wild oats
And party

Repeat Chorus

I'm going out to the club tonight and get my swerve on
Because really I'm in my sexual prime
And there's no way im gong to be at home
Waiting for the phone to ring
NO! Instead this evening
I'm going to go out and sow my wild oats
And party

Repeat Chorus
