favourites B*Witched took the pocket-money market by the scruff
of the neck with their eponymous 3 million-selling debut album
and, like them or loathe them, they are back to do the same with
a follow up.
Maybe
they're not trendy enough to earn a place on your CD rack, but
the facts speak for themselves. They
are the only act to reach the coveted number one spot with their
first four singles and are the only UK signed group to have a
top 10 hit in the US this year.
The
new album, Awake and Breathe, features as many cheesy moments
as you would expect from four girls called Edele, Keavy, Sinead
and Lindsey, and there are as many Irish pipes as you'll find
on the Titanic soundtrack. The most pungent cheesy moment is reserved
for I Shall Be There, a collaboration with Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
Elsewhere, it's just Pop Anthem City. They're the Spice Girls
minus sex appeal, charisma and sing-a-long-ability.
