Rising from San Francisco since 2003, Dead To Me finally signed to Fat Wreck Chords and produced their first piece of musical literacy that they are proud to call Cuban Ballerina. This album starts with a fast, beautiful rhythm and almost never runs out of energy. The beat keeps fans pumped and ready to take on anything. Surely an album you won’t be yawning through. Dead To Me finds the simplest way to describe the hardest moments in life. The album, Cuban Ballerina, portrays every hardship the members of the band and other people in the world have had to face. Whether its issues of war or of addiction this band has written their opinion on it. The album title has much meaning behind it as well. The bassist, Chicken, saw a man on TV that was once in love with a Cuban ballerina. The ballerina was his dream girl and looking back on his life, the man sometimes wishes he had held on to his Cuban ballerina. Chicken saw the ballerina as a dream that he’s always fantasized about but never pursued. So Dead To Me’s Cuban ballerina is a dream that they always wanted to chase. Making this band was part of that dream, so what better name for their first album. The record is defiantly worth taking the time to listen to and guaranteed to stay in your CD player for weeks…..or at last until Dead To Me come out with their next album. Keep your eyes and ears on them; you never know what they might pull out of their hat next.
